Just what the PS3 needed
Posted : 11 months, 1 week ago on 27 December 2008 06:19
(A review of LittleBigPlanet)LittleBigPlanet is a game that made me finally want to buy the PS3 this game brings back old school platformers and sticks in a bunch of crazy ideas but it's all good. The main character in the game is sackboy and you can dress him the way you want the more stuff you find during story mode the more you can customize stackboy. The Playstation Network also offers themed customization such as Metal Gear Solid and even Street Fighter etc but it comes at a price. Online allows you to play with another person which can help you play the level which is fun and it's a good idea and you can also see if you come 1st or 2nd. LittleBigPlanet also expands having other players creating new levels which adds more gameplay to the game. The music to the game is quite good and it does suit the game and even the graphics are impressive. If you like little puzzles in the game well there is some here. I think this is one of the best games of 2008 if not the best certainly it's impressive and this is how I like platformers as it reminds me back during the Mega Drive/Super Nintendo days. I got this game free with my PS3 and it was worth it I am looking forward to see what else Media Molecule can do with the game as I have read there in development with LittleBigPlanet 2. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
The last days of Craig Ewert
Posted : 11 months, 3 weeks ago on 11 December 2008 03:51
(A review of The Suicide Tourist)The Suicide Tourist otherwise known as Right to Die? to us in the UK the program was controversial as it shows assisted suicide of Craig Ewert was 59 year old he was a retired university professor who had been suffering from motor neurone disease. Motor Neurone Disease there is nothing they do with it and he had already many things that he could no longer do and it would paralysis his whole body. I have respect for Craig and I believe that no person should live in pain and that if it's there choice to die then it should be only if the person is terminally ill. Craig Ewert and his wife traveled to Switzerland he was assisted by Dignitas NGO. The documentary shows you the last days of Craig and it also shows you his death where he drinks the killer drug which eventually kills him. The show was the first assisted suicide to be broadcasted in the UK and was shown on the channel Sky Real Lives. People were against the idea broadcasting this show but this is life and you can't hide it plus Craig Ewert had a right to die he was terminally ill and pretty much as he said he didn't want to die a painful death. I did feel bad for Craig as he did want to live his life longer as he wanted to do other things. The documentry also shows another couple husband and wife I wasn't sure if he was terminally ill but they both wanted assisted suicide. The thing was this couple didn't look ill she definitely didn't I do thing if your healthy why kill yourself when people who are dying wish they had a longer life. I found this documentry heartwarming as Craig really did sound as a nice person which it was sad to witness what he was going through. This was interesting and the documentry was put together really good I did feel that it was right to broadcast this on UK television because if you don't want to watch it you don't have to nobody is forcing anyone. I'll leave you with what Craig Ewert did say on the show as I found this words what he did interesting. "I've got two choices,". "I go through with it or I say, 'You know what? I'm too scared right now. I don't want to do it.' If I go through with it, I die as I must at some point. If I don't go through with it, my choice is essentially to suffer, and to inflict suffering on my family and then die! Possibly in a way that is considerably more painful and stressful than this way." "The Christians never say, 'We have to stop organ transplants. We have to stop helping premature babies.' No, then it's all right to play God." 0 comments, Reply to this entry
The Night of Evolution
Posted : 1 year ago on 29 November 2008 04:00
(A review of WWE - Armageddon 2003)Armageddon is the final WWE PPV event of the year and Raw hosted this show in Orlando, Florida at TD Waterhouse Centre now known as Amway Arena. The poster of the event features Triple H and the titantron features the symbol of Triple H. The tagline for the event is "Evolution of The Game" mostly this is a PPV features evolution. The first match was Mark Henry vs Booker T before the match there is a recap of what happend to get to this match it shows you various of different weeks of Booker T been attacked by Mark Henry. The match is not to bad for an opener some decent moves even Booker T hits the scissors kick on Henry 2 times. The next match was the Intercontinental Championship match with Rob Van Dam vs Randy Orton and this match is one of the best that this event has to offer it features great moves by both men in my opinion it's one of the best matches of the night. Trish Stratus and Lita vs Chris Jericho and Christian - this match is nothing special Trish and Lita 2 great wrestlers but putting them in a match like this was wrong. Shawn Michaels vs Batista - Before this match there is a recap leading to the match it replays the destruction Batista does to Shawn Michaels now remember Batista was a heel back in 2003 which is when he was interesting. The match is good Shawn Michaels pulls off some great moves and as the ending it's quite exciting. Maven vs Matt Hardy - This is not a match at all it doesn't officially start Batista is still in the ring after the last match Maven comes out getting ready for the match Matt Hardy starts beating up Maven then throws him in the ring with Batista. Batista then gives Maven 2 Batista bombs and Maven is out. The tag team turmoil I haven't watch this one yet but I'll update it when I do. Triple H vs Goldberg vs Kane - Triple Threat match for the World Heavyweight Championship - The intro video to this match was actually good but I just don't really understand how Kane comes into this I know Triple H and Goldberg had a long feud over 2003. The match I did enjoy Triple H doesn't really do much Kane does quite a lot during the match and I have to admit some of the looks on Kane's face was funny. Goldberg didn't really give top performance which I thought was a shame. The ending of the match was awful it was the worst part of the match altogether. Triple H vs Goldberg from Survivor Series 2003 was better. The extras on this you get Booker T and Stacy with the "Leg-o-Roonie" this segment is nothing interesting at all. The Return of Mick Foley - This is a good extra featuring Foley as GM of Raw I never knew that he was I wasn't watching WWE at that time that was when we got rid of the channels to watch WWE. The Rock returns - This is about 17 to 19 minutes it features La Resistance and Mick Foley this is a great segment which I am glad that this was added to the DVD. Mark Henry's Recent Rampage - This extra just skip it nothing special at all who cares about this because I certainly don't. The rest are promos and interviews there is quite a lot of them which is a good thing because more extras the more value for money I think. Oh and there is another match this is in the extras Heidenreich vs Rico this was from Sunday Night Heat this match is short and the outcome is pathetic Rico defeating Heidenreich what a joke this guy would later feud with Undertaker during 2004 and 2005. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
My Thoughts on The Marine
Posted : 1 year ago on 14 November 2008 03:20
(A review of The Marine)I finally seen this movie you know I bought it on DVD because I collect WWE DVD's and you know I wish I left this on the shelf it was boring and dull. This makes out that Marines are like cyborgs John Cena is always close to death even in explosions he gets out and survives but really it would never happen. This movie is way over the top to many explosions which look pathetic the bad guys are a joke I feel sorry for Robert Patrick is a legend from the Terminator 2 movie now starting in this horrible movie. WWE films have produced better movies Stone Cold in The Condemend and Kane in See No Evil now I recommend watching those because the wrestlers act better and it's not over the top. As for the comedy in the movie it's not funny it's just stupid the bad guys don't event seem smart they don't even seem bad laughing and joking all the time. I respect John Cena just this movie is awful even the soundtrack sounds bad this movie is like a B-Movie. John Cena pretty much acts like the same old thing as he is in WWE I guess Vince McMahon wanted him to be that way in the movie. 2 comments, Reply to this entry
WWE - Hell in a Cell
Posted : 1 year ago on 14 November 2008 02:56
(A review of WWE - Hell in a Cell)WWE Hell in a Cell a structure set to case pain and blood the cell made it's debut in 1997 when Shawn Michaels and Undertaker were the first of many to step into the cell. This DVD showcases 14 of the best Hell in a Cell matches presented by Mick Foley who has pretty much made the Hell in a Cell a classic match. Now from Silvervision they give you a limited edition package which there is only 2000 in Europe I got number 1005 which I am extremely happy to have this in my collection. Now back to this DVD like most WWE collections it features an intro to the match a bit of detail then shows you clips of what's happened to get to that match then goes into the match. So right now I'll review certain matches. Hell in a Cell - Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels - Badd Blood (October 5, 1997) This is the very first match featuring the Hell in a Cell and features some good action Shawn Michaels beating up a camera man, shoving the camera out of his way. Undertaker beating the hell out of Shawn Michaels and busts him open this is a great match one of the best on the set. This match is also the debut of Kane which I thought the interference kind of spoiled the match. The footage goes off in parts as it looks like it's been transfered off a VHS tape. Tag Team Hell in a Cell Match - Stone Cold Steve Austin & Undertaker vs. Mankind & Kane - RAW (June 15, 1998) This match is short and it is not in the Cell for that long only Undertaker beating the hell out of Paul Bearer I think it lasts for 5 mins but the match cuts off when Stone Cold starts beating up Kane on top of the Cell. Hell in a Cell - Undertaker vs. Mankind - King of the Ring (June 28, 1998) This is the most memorable Hell in a Cell match and has one of the most played footage in WWE history the very match where Undertaker throws Mankind (Mick Foley from the top of the cell. I don't even need to go on with this match any WWE fan should have seen it by now. I am going to skip the next match that other match was Mankind vs Kane from Raw now I'll skip to No Way Out 2000 Hell in a Cell Match for the WWE Championship (Cactus Jack’s Career is on the Line) - Triple H vs. Cactus Jack - No Way Out (February 27, 2000) This match is a classic this has Foley falling from the top of the cell and going threw it and this match is fantastic this is one that people will have seen on the Triple H King of Kings DVD. Six-Man Hell in a Cell Match for the WWE Championship - Kurt Angle vs. Rikishi vs. The Rock vs. Undertaker vs. Triple H vs. Steve Austin - Armageddon (December 10, 2000) We have seen 2 men in a cell almost 4 but never really happened well for the first time Six men would wrestle in the dangerous cell. During the match because McMahon wants this match to stop he gets constructors to try and rip the cell down however they manage to rip off the door. How before this match you had the story of Stone Cold been hit by a car from Rikishi with plans by Triple H. The story also sees the rivalry of Rikishi and The Rock then Kurt Angle and Stone Cold. In this match you see Stone Cold dragging Triple H head all around the cell and even throwing a camera in the face of Triple H. Now we also witness Rikishi been thrown off the Cell by a chokeslam from the Undertaker. I remember this match very well and certainly it is a classic which lasts for 40 minutes. There is editing in this match as Undertakers theme song that was on here was Kid Rock - American Bad Ass and this song has been changed to a generic theme. Now for the rest of the matches on this 3 disc set I won't go into anymore detail because any WWE fan should know what to expect in the Hell in a Cell. Just don't expect seeing Undertaker vs Edge from Summerslam 2008 because you won't see it here as this was filmed before that match took place. Thankfully the DVD doesn't show Big Bossman vs Undertaker from WrestleMania 15 I hate the ending where Bossman is hung from the cell because it's one of the worst that I have seen. The truth is the best matches in my opinion are on Disc 1, Disc 2 is not that bad (I have most matches on Disc 2 on the other events that I have on DVD, and Disc 3 is good specially Batista vs Undertaker from Survivor Series 2007 mostly because of the shocking ending. The whole DVD is worth watching and owning it is enjoyable and if you like a bit of hardcore wrestling it is featured here this is one of the best WWE sets since the Ladder Match DVD and Hell in a Cell is a big part of WWE which makes this a must own for any WWE fan. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
This version is great, Better then last years
Posted : 1 year ago on 7 November 2008 04:55
(A review of WWE Smackdown VS Raw 2009)Smackdown VS Raw returns on the Wii and last years was awful with only 5 modes but now Yukes have seemed to put a whole lot more effort in to this version by adding match types, a real story mode, defend championship titles (plus you get to see them). The game however still features the same bar which sort of makes it an arcade style wrestling game but this is not a bad thing it's decent at least the matches last longer in this version. The great features of this version is you get interactive enterances and victory scenes which do add more fun to the game. The game also features the Royal Rumble, TLC, hell in a cell, steel cage, battle royle, ecw extreme rules match, backstage match, ladder. However there is no elimination chamber or inferno match they have sadly been removed but this is nothing major. A new story mode is now in the game Road to WrestleMania but it only features Triple H, CM Punk, John Cena, Chris Jericho, Undertaker, and Batista and Rey Mysterio where you can only play as those 2 as a team. I am annoyed to see CM Punk having his own story mode when Edge should have clearly got one he's been the best wrestler this year. This mode features real clips and also makes it look like the TV show. Finally Yukes added more moves to the game and a system where you can try to get out of moves which has you shaking your nunchuck analogue stick. It was finally good though that Yukes did listen to the people as we are the paying customers and they should be listening to us. This is the first one to feature an online mode I can't see a downloadable content section. Online matches you can do but you can only do certain match types and the annoying thing is the lag it does get bad with lag specially for me. I have spent over 4 hours on this game and I got to say the graphics are not the best who cares the gameplay is good, the soundtrack is awesome finally new modes in the Wii version and online which is certainly a fantastic thing. *I'll update this review when I play more of it* 0 comments, Reply to this entry
WWE - 'Cause Stone Cold Said So review
Posted : 1 year ago on 5 November 2008 05:27
(A review of WWE - 'Cause Stone Cold Said So)In 1998 on VHS came Cause Stone Cold Said So and in 2004 DVD re-released the DVD (if you live in Europe Silver Vision re-released it). The show is narrated by Stone Cold who talks on about how tough he is the show features highlights of Stone Colds first year with WWE. There is highlights that feature Stone Colds King of the Ring win featuring parts of matches with Marc Mero and Jake the Snake Roberts. During Stone Colds match with Mero you will notice that Stone Colds lip starts to bleed and this is where he needed stitches but never mind he would later become King of The Ring after beating Jake The Snake. It takes highlights of some great moments with Stone Cold and with him providing his own voice over just makes the show fun to watch. The main parts in this was his feud with Bret the Hitman Hart at least 22 minutes of this shows highlights of the I Quit match from WrestleMania 13 the match were Stone Cold passed out. The show also shows you some moments with Brian Pillman but the show does pretty much end with Shawn and Stone Cold wining the tag team titles. Overall This DVD is entertaining but it has been edited the swearing is now beeped out which I own it on VHS which was unedited. However if you like Stone Cold you will enjoy what he does have to say because most things he said made me laugh. I think it is a much watch it is good to see this of Stone Cold though I wish it would of shown some of the classic promos like the one with the cops and talking about Dunkin Donuts now that I thought was funny. It only funs for 59 minutes it's short but quite fun and enjoyable. The DVD features NO EXTRAS. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
WWE - Judgment Day 2008 review
Posted : 1 year ago on 5 November 2008 05:12
(A review of WWE - Judgment Day 2008)WWE Judgment Day 2008 was in Omaha, Nebraska at the Qwest Center Omaha arena which was on May 18 2008. This is the 10th Judgment Day as the event first started in 1998. The poster/DVD Cover shows Triple H in a prison but wouldn't this poster sound better if it went with No Way Out because to be honest it suits it a whole lot more John "Bradshaw" Layfield vs John Cena I am sick of watching these 2 wrestle the matches are slow and I got to admit Cena is a bit pathetic at wrestling but we have seen JBL & Cena battle tons of times and really it never changes John Morrison and The Miz vs Kane and CM Punk - Tag team match for the WWE Tag Team Championship I never did watch this match my reason was because John Morrison & The Miz I am not to keen on plus Kane and CM Punk is just a weird team. Chris Jericho vs Shawn Michaels Jericho and Michaels have had great matches from WrestleMania 19, some of there classic matches from Raw. Before the match starts it plays a video package about Shawn lying about his knee at Backlash then turning on Jericho by giving him a sweet chin music. The match is really entertaining and features a lot of technical wrestling it is enjoyable out of the whole event this has the best build up to this match. You also pretty much witness why Jericho turns heel which he does. Mickie James vs Beth Phoenix vs Melina - Triple Threat match for the WWE Women's Championship I am not one for diva matches I always did enjoy Trish or Lita's matches and a certainly loved Mickie James as a heel but the quality of womens wrestling went down hill with Mickie James turning to a babyface. Beth Phoenix plays the heel and I am not sure about Melina sort of mixed. The match is short only lasting near 5 minutes long but even for that time this is enjoyable. A highlight to this match has to be Beth Phoenix double backbreaker to both Mickie James and Melina it looked quite awesome. I am very impressed with this match it's short but very exciting best diva match I have seen in quite sometime. The Undertaker vs Edge Singles match for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship The battle of Undertaker and Edge keeps going on well Undertaker beat Edge at Backlash using the chokehold I can't remember what it's called. On an episode of SmackDown Undertaker gets stripped of having the title for using the Illegal chokehold. The match is quite entertaining featuring quite a bit of reversals which really keep you on the edge of your seat. This is not the best match that both of these men have had possibly weaker due to the ending which I thought was disappointing because this match was going great. What I really do like about this match is commentary that Foley provides who really makes the match enjoyable. Vickie Guerrero makes an appearance at the end of the match saying something that the people will hate. Montel Vontavious Porter vs Jeff Hardy This match wasn't originally on the Judgment Day card it seemed to be set up last minute. MVP says why hasn't he got a match on the card, etc. Matt Hardy comes out and introduces the returning Jeff Hardy. This match I found quite boring not much really did happen during the match but I think you should check out the Summerslam match it was better. Triple H vs Randy Orton - Steel Cage match for the WWE Championship This is the main event and the longest match of the event and to be honest this is not the best cage match but I guess it's alright. From what I remember of this match is Randy tries to get out of the cage many times but fails with Triple H dragging him back in. However for a steel cage match it is quite shocking to see no blood. The ending is quite a disappointment but the match was decent. Extras WWE have added 2 DVD features to the DVD which you shouldn't be surprised because these are short as always. Todd Grisham interviews Jeff Hardy This interview lasts for 30 seconds just after Jeff Hardy's match with MVP where he talks about what he lost his house and his dog due to a fire. This is quite interesting and I would have liked it to be more expanded on but 30 seconds is just to short SmackDown – 09/05/08 Chase For The Gold Well this extra is one of the worst I have seen on a WWE DVD this is the same recap video that is shown during the promo video between Edge and Undertaker during the event. The problem is WWE could have shown the match but instead they were lazy and kept it pretty much as highlights. But what makes me wonder was why stick this on the DVD if it was featured on the Judgment Day 2008 event it's pointless. Overall Judgment Day 2008 is a whole lot better then last years that one was awful at least this features enjoyable matches. The best matches of the event have to be Edge vs Undertaker, Jericho vs Michaels, Mickie James vs Beth Phoenix vs Melina. I got to say I the DVD on ebay for £5 which for sure the event was worth it having it on DVD. This may not be the best show of 2008 but it was quite decent featuring some enjoyable events. A huge shame as always is WWE giving us terrible DVD extras. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
Jeremy Kyle show for the unemployed
Posted : 1 year ago on 4 November 2008 01:22
(A review of "The Jeremy Kyle Show")The Jeremy Kyle Show is a weekday daytime program which starts just after GMTV at 9:25am on ITV. The show is a talk show and was placed on ITV after Trisha living ITV so then this show came to fill in the slot. The Jeremy Kyle show I got to say when I first seen this I thought it was pretty good but then it just gets boring. The show is full of people on the dole, people who just can't be bothered to get a job, chavs, and people who have one night stands and go off with anyone, drugs users, alcoholics, etc. A thing about this show is embarrassment why would you want to share your personal life over the TV and then there on the TV saying there on drugs like there happy about it. Sometimes the show makes me think they have actors I have no idea why I just think they do sometimes. Jeremy Kyle is alright I guess I don't personally think he could help the situations at all as the guests on the show never seem to listen. A typical thing on this show that appears a lot is who's the father of the baby which once you have seen it really it gets boring. Thankfully this show is only shown in the morning so if you have school, college, work you will miss it so not much to worry about then. But when I have seen this show I got to laugh at some of the idiots on the show because really they make me laugh just how pathetic they are I'm not been nasty anyway. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
Zombies taking over Big Brother and the UK
Posted : 1 year, 1 month ago on 31 October 2008 06:32
(A review of Dead Set)Dead set was shown on E4 during October 27 until October 31 2008 and is also set to be released on DVD November 3rd. Dead Set is based around Big Brother and in the house you have the type of people you would see in the house common people, weird people, normal people. The show has a twist as zombies take over and the rest of the Big Brother Housemates also Big Brother production runner Kelly, Kelly's boyfriend Riq, Patrick the producer, and Alex all try and escape and survive. The cast are good in the show there is a few people who just didn't act so well the women Pippa was annoying but that's a typical Big Brother housemate. The show is entertaining it's crazy and very bloody. Adam Deacon who plays Space and Kelly who plays Jamie Winstone it was great seeing those 2 together as they were both in Kidulthood. Even the Big Brother stars are in this including Brian who you get to see as a zombie and for his part he does a good job. I did feel bad for Davina Mccall turning into a zombie but I had to admit she was funny. The series is entertaining and in my opinion it's a British classic and it really has a good idea basing it from Big Brother and putting this sort of situation with it as it did make it interesting. I will be buying this on DVD and if you haven't seen this yet I recommend it. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
