WWE - Judgment Day 2008 review

Posted : 16 years, 4 months ago on 5 November 2008 11:12 (A review of WWE - Judgment Day 2008)

WWE Judgment Day 2008 was in Omaha, Nebraska at the Qwest Center Omaha arena which was on May 18 2008. This is the 10th Judgment Day as the event first started in 1998. The poster/DVD Cover shows Triple H in a prison but wouldn't this poster sound better if it went with No Way Out because to be honest it suits it a whole lot more

John "Bradshaw" Layfield vs John Cena

I am sick of watching these 2 wrestle the matches are slow and I got to admit Cena is a bit pathetic at wrestling but we have seen JBL & Cena battle tons of times and really it never changes

John Morrison and The Miz vs Kane and CM Punk - Tag team match for the WWE Tag Team Championship

I never did watch this match my reason was because John Morrison & The Miz I am not to keen on plus Kane and CM Punk is just a weird team.

Chris Jericho vs Shawn Michaels

Jericho and Michaels have had great matches from WrestleMania 19, some of there classic matches from Raw. Before the match starts it plays a video package about Shawn lying about his knee at Backlash then turning on Jericho by giving him a sweet chin music. The match is really entertaining and features a lot of technical wrestling it is enjoyable out of the whole event this has the best build up to this match. You also pretty much witness why Jericho turns heel which he does.

Mickie James vs Beth Phoenix vs Melina - Triple Threat match for the WWE Women's Championship

I am not one for diva matches I always did enjoy Trish or Lita's matches and a certainly loved Mickie James as a heel but the quality of womens wrestling went down hill with Mickie James turning to a babyface. Beth Phoenix plays the heel and I am not sure about Melina sort of mixed. The match is short only lasting near 5 minutes long but even for that time this is enjoyable. A highlight to this match has to be Beth Phoenix double backbreaker to both Mickie James and Melina it looked quite awesome. I am very impressed with this match it's short but very exciting best diva match I have seen in quite sometime.

The Undertaker vs Edge Singles match for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship

The battle of Undertaker and Edge keeps going on well Undertaker beat Edge at Backlash using the chokehold I can't remember what it's called. On an episode of SmackDown Undertaker gets stripped of having the title for using the Illegal chokehold. The match is quite entertaining featuring quite a bit of reversals which really keep you on the edge of your seat. This is not the best match that both of these men have had possibly weaker due to the ending which I thought was disappointing because this match was going great. What I really do like about this match is commentary that Foley provides who really makes the match enjoyable. Vickie Guerrero makes an appearance at the end of the match saying something that the people will hate.

Montel Vontavious Porter vs Jeff Hardy

This match wasn't originally on the Judgment Day card it seemed to be set up last minute. MVP says why hasn't he got a match on the card, etc. Matt Hardy comes out and introduces the returning Jeff Hardy. This match I found quite boring not much really did happen during the match but I think you should check out the Summerslam match it was better.

Triple H vs Randy Orton - Steel Cage match for the WWE Championship

This is the main event and the longest match of the event and to be honest this is not the best cage match but I guess it's alright. From what I remember of this match is Randy tries to get out of the cage many times but fails with Triple H dragging him back in. However for a steel cage match it is quite shocking to see no blood. The ending is quite a disappointment but the match was decent.

Extras

WWE have added 2 DVD features to the DVD which you shouldn't be surprised because these are short as always.

Todd Grisham interviews Jeff Hardy

This interview lasts for 30 seconds just after Jeff Hardy's match with MVP where he talks about what he lost his house and his dog due to a fire. This is quite interesting and I would have liked it to be more expanded on but 30 seconds is just to short

SmackDown โ€“ 09/05/08 Chase For The Gold

Well this extra is one of the worst I have seen on a WWE DVD this is the same recap video that is shown during the promo video between Edge and Undertaker during the event. The problem is WWE could have shown the match but instead they were lazy and kept it pretty much as highlights. But what makes me wonder was why stick this on the DVD if it was featured on the Judgment Day 2008 event it's pointless.

Overall

Judgment Day 2008 is a whole lot better then last years that one was awful at least this features enjoyable matches. The best matches of the event have to be Edge vs Undertaker, Jericho vs Michaels, Mickie James vs Beth Phoenix vs Melina. I got to say I the DVD on ebay for ยฃ5 which for sure the event was worth it having it on DVD. This may not be the best show of 2008 but it was quite decent featuring some enjoyable events. A huge shame as always is WWE giving us terrible DVD extras.

Jeremy Kyle show for the unemployed

Posted : 16 years, 4 months ago on 4 November 2008 07:22 (A review of The Jeremy Kyle Show)

The Jeremy Kyle Show is a weekday daytime program which starts just after GMTV at 9:25am on ITV. The show is a talk show and was placed on ITV after Trisha living ITV so then this show came to fill in the slot.

The Jeremy Kyle show I got to say when I first seen this I thought it was pretty good but then it just gets boring. The show is full of people on the dole, people who just can't be bothered to get a job, chavs, and people who have one night stands and go off with anyone, drugs users, alcoholics, etc. A thing about this show is embarrassment why would you want to share your personal life over the TV and then there on the TV saying there on drugs like there happy about it. Sometimes the show makes me think they have actors I have no idea why I just think they do sometimes. Jeremy Kyle is alright I guess I don't personally think he could help the situations at all as the guests on the show never seem to listen.

A typical thing on this show that appears a lot is who's the father of the baby which once you have seen it really it gets boring. Thankfully this show is only shown in the morning so if you have school, college, work you will miss it so not much to worry about then. But when I have seen this show I got to laugh at some of the idiots on the show because really they make me laugh just how pathetic they are I'm not been nasty anyway.

Zombies taking over Big Brother and the UK

Posted : 16 years, 4 months ago on 31 October 2008 11:32 (A review of Dead Set)

Dead set was shown on E4 during October 27 until October 31 2008 and is also set to be released on DVD November 3rd. Dead Set is based around Big Brother and in the house you have the type of people you would see in the house common people, weird people, normal people. The show has a twist as zombies take over and the rest of the Big Brother Housemates also Big Brother production runner Kelly, Kelly's boyfriend Riq, Patrick the producer, and Alex all try and escape and survive.

The cast are good in the show there is a few people who just didn't act so well the women Pippa was annoying but that's a typical Big Brother housemate. The show is entertaining it's crazy and very bloody. Adam Deacon who plays Space and Kelly who plays Jamie Winstone it was great seeing those 2 together as they were both in Kidulthood. Even the Big Brother stars are in this including Brian who you get to see as a zombie and for his part he does a good job. I did feel bad for Davina Mccall turning into a zombie but I had to admit she was funny.

The series is entertaining and in my opinion it's a British classic and it really has a good idea basing it from Big Brother and putting this sort of situation with it as it did make it interesting. I will be buying this on DVD and if you haven't seen this yet I recommend it.

All this movie did was make me Yawn

Posted : 16 years, 4 months ago on 19 October 2008 09:18 (A review of Stay Alive)

Stay Alive is about a video game which comes to life you play the game and you die the same way you were killed in the video game. The story to the movie is actually really good but the down fall to me is the acting and the death scenes could have seen far more interesting instead they do look a bit cheap. The video game is based in the 17th Century the women is known as The Blood Countess. The gamers who are playing the game no nothing about it as the game features no information on it what so ever. I am guessing the people in this are teens and all they want to do is just play the game which leads them to beating the game and finding a way to defeating The Blood Countess. A lot of people may have enjoyed this movie and found it interesting but to me it's nothing special at all and to be honest this movie could of been a whole lot better. As for the DVD I bought of it featured no DVD extras at all.

The Night WWE goes Extreme

Posted : 16 years, 5 months ago on 7 October 2008 10:09 (A review of WWE - One Night Stand 2008)

One Night Stand started off as an ECW event that WWE produced in 2005 which came back under the ECW banner in 2006 both were at the Hammerstein Ballroom, New York. In 2007 WWE put all three brands together on the Pay Per Views so now it would be WWE One Night Stand and hosted every year but not not the Hammerstein Ballroom. 2007 of One Night Stand was a weak show it never did beat the first 2 events from 2005 and 2006 due to it having weak matches but 2008 of One Night Stand did improve on by a lot.

So let's now get into this review

Falls Count Anywhere Match
Jeff Hardy vs. Umaga

The falls count anywhere match this was a great opener and what I did enjoy about this match is both Umaga and Jeff Hardy pull off some great moves. I haven't seen a match that has been outside of the arena in ages and this reminds me an Hardcore title match. The highlight of this match was Jeff Hardy sliding down the banister on the stairs then doing a cross body on Umaga anything could of gone wrong there and it was just exciting to watch. The swanton bomb from the top of the truck was quite awesome I just didn't think much of the camera angles. (What I find annoying is that Jeff shows great skill in matches but he gets WWE Championship shots and WWE screw him out of it and make him lose)

Singapore Cane Match
Big Show vs. John Morrison vs. Tommy Dreamer vs. Chavo Guerrero vs. CM Punk

I didn't think I would enjoy this match but I thought it was fantastic for some odd reason Big Show did make me laugh. This is also the match where Big Show's face above his eye is cut by John Morrison knocking him and hitting his face on the corner of the steel steps. The part that I did enjoy was Big Show getting mad and just getting the Singapore Cage and just hitting Miz and Morrison over and over. A great part of the match was Morrison trying to dive at Big Show from the ring to the out side where Big Show just hits him with the cane. Very entertaining match indeed.

"I Quit" Match
Melina vs. Beth Phoenix

All I can say about this match is it's just shocking the way Beth just bends Melina's body the thing is I never did hear her say she Quits though it would of been great for Melina to win.

Stretcher Match
Shawn Michaels vs. Batista

I will checking out this match when I feel like it I never watched it as I am not that keen on Batista I couldn't care less about him and I think Shawn Michaels is pretty good. But the main reason is I am just not a fan of the stretcher match I find them quite boring to be honest.

First Blood Match
John Cena vs. JBL

The first blood match is the worst match on the event the Divas match is even better. This match is to slow which to be honest it is worth a skip.

Last Man Standing Match for the WWE Championship
Triple H vs. Randy Orton

Another injury appears on the event Big Show gets hurt now Randy Orton does. This is the very match were Orton breaks his collarbone due to a bad fall. The match is not as long of course the thing that annoys me is although Randy gets injured these people at the event boo him and don't cheer him. One guy tries talking hard you see Orton say something back then the ref just shoving the guy back it's quite funny actually. Check out the part where Orton tells the crowed to shut the f**k up (But WWE have edited it out on the DVD but it may be on youtube somewhere). Even though Orton breaks his collarbone Triple H still knocks him back down by the sledgehammer. The match is not bad but the people could of shown some support for Randy Orton.

TLC Match for the World Heavyweight Championship
Edge vs Undertaker

This was one of the main reasons why I bought this event on DVD because I never buy the event I don't have Sky Sports so I have to wait at least 4 to 3 month to watch this as it takes ages to come on DVD. Edge and Undertaker without of a doubt is one of the best rivalry's of 2008 it will go in the history records for sure. This is Undertaker's first TLC match and he done pretty good but Edge brought out some of the best of the Undertaker. There is a lot of people going threw the tables Hawk and Ryder, Edge and Undertaker going threw 4 tables. This is also the match where if Undertaker loses he would leave WWE forever but we all knew he was just taking a break. This is a classic match and is the match of the night.

DVD Extras:
4 Historical Undertaker Moments
โ€ข Survivor Series 1990
โ€ข King of the Ring 1998
โ€ข Royal Rumble 2007
โ€ข WrestleMania 23

The DVD extras feature 4 highlights of Undertaker moments which are nothing interesting as I have seen these before and these last for about 1 minute or just under each. The DVD could of shown some footage of Big Show's eye, it should of shown Randy Orton getting attended to after breaking his collar bone. What about the great segments with Edge on SmackDown why won't WWE put some of them in or even interviews it's annoying a great event with bad DVD Extras. It always seems that WWE are lazy with the extras.

I highly recommend this DVD as it does show some great wrestling action just the DVD Extras. The shocking thing though that the British Board of Film Classification give it a 15 rating I thought this would of at least got a an 18 due to some of the shocking stuff in the event and Big Show getting injured.

TNA is getting better

Posted : 16 years, 5 months ago on 20 September 2008 11:17 (A review of Impact Wrestling)

Well I am starting at like TNA and to be honest I still think WWE is the best but I am getting sick of the toilet humor on WWE it is getting me annoyed (I am talking about Jesse and Festus and another boring tag team by the name of priceless WWE does need Edge back). I am starting to like TNA after playing the game well TNA does have fast pace wrestling and great talent on the show. My favorites on TNA AJ Styles, Kurt Angle, Christian Cage, Booker T and Awesome Kong as well as more. The TNA knockouts is something that is great because TNA's women are not all eye candy it is based on wrestling skill which TNA have some women with great skill ones like Awesome Kong, Roxxi, ODB. The show reminds me very much of WCW which I was a big fan of that show while that was airing.

This is not a song contest it's political

Posted : 16 years, 6 months ago on 6 September 2008 11:50 (A review of The Eurovision Song Contest )

The Eurovision Song Contest honestly this show is a waste of time not only does it have terrible music but it is also fixed. Something though I admit I did like Ukraine with Verka Serduchka - Danzing from 2007 that did make me laugh. The UK will never win due to political voting due to Europe hating us which I do hate the rest of Europe due to having a problem with my own country if they stop hating us then I would respect them. The truth is the UK song's have never been good you hear artist which have flopped before in the UK charts the thing is we never get anyone who is popular. Malta and Ireland are really the only 2 countries who vote for the UK. The thing is what is the point in the UK entering Eurovision it does not matter who it is or how good or how famous we still will lose the show. The countries of Europe tend to pick countries who they are neighbours with and not on the song. It has also been proven that Eurovision do block votes from other countries. Terry Wogan even admitted the truth in 2008 and said he may leave due to it been no longer a singing contest but political.

The show is the same thing all the time

Posted : 16 years, 6 months ago on 6 September 2008 01:57 (A review of Eggheads)

Eggheads is one of the worst gameshows I have seen it features 5 quiz champions who have won many quiz shows like Mastermind, Who Want's to be a Millionaire, The Weakest Link etc. The 5 of them join up to take on a bunch of normal people and they have to beat the Eggheads and if they do lose the prize money goes up.

I do hate this show due to the fact it is the same thing The Eggheads winning all the time just really makes the show boring I mean come on bring back 24 hour Quiz, Blockbusters, 100% or Catchphrase those were entertaining. Dermot Murnaghan presents the show and he is just dull BBC never seem to aire anything good lately that's why I find ITV and Channel 4 better.

Parodius

Posted : 16 years, 6 months ago on 2 September 2008 10:14 (A review of Parodius)

I just found this classic gem about 2 month ago and I got to say this is a really enjoyable game and I don't really like Horizontal scrolling shooter games but this one is just fun. Parodius is a Parody of the Gradius series which was also developed by Konami. Konami also use the characters from there other such as Antarctic Adventure and Twinbee.

In this game you play as Vic Viper who is in the Gradius series, Octopus, Twin Bee and Pentarou which is a penguin. There are many different bosses in the game such as a giant cat, some big girl who looks like a dancer from Las Vegas, a big bald American eagle and plenty more which are all made as a joke. This game has good graphics for it's time which it was about 1990 it was made. I really do recommend finding this game and giving it is funny and fun to play.

Dancing on Ice review

Posted : 16 years, 6 months ago on 20 August 2008 07:32 (A review of Dancing on Ice)

Dancing on Ice is a show where Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean teach a bunch of so called Celebrity's to dance on Ice the problem is that they get called Celebrity's when most have never appeared on our TV's for ages. The show has the so called Celebrity's dancing along with Judges to rate there score after the viewers vote on who they want to stay. One of the Judges does act like Simon Cowell the judges name on this show is Jason. Once the votes are collected there are 2 left which the Judges say which one goes. My point with this show sometimes it is a scam and ITV and other channels have done it and there are to many types of programs like this really it just gets boring. BBC has Strictly come Dancing which is just another piece of trash on TV much like this so ITV have to that of a show they could compete with it. People may find it good to watch that they are dancing on Ice but once you have seen it once it's pretty much the same thing all the time and after that it gets boring.
